A report from the New York Post suggests Hollywood producer Rob Silverstein may have been the source for the leaked audio tape from 11 years ago where Trump was heard making locker room banter with Billy Bush.
From Page Six:
Another source told us that: “There are only a few people who could have leaked this. The cameraman, who wouldn’t hold on to it. The editor, who also has no incentive to keep it and [‘Access Hollywood’ executive producer and close Bush pal] Rob Silverstein … They are the ones with access. There would be no reason to hold onto it from 2005. The would only [reason to] leak it now [is] because of Donald Trump’s bid for president. NBC is in crisis mode. They have to protect [Billy].”
But Silverstein told Page Six when asked if he leaked the tape: “I am the last person in the world who would release that tape. Trust me. Let’s remember that. No chance. Don’t even infer it’s me. I don’t know who leaked it. I have no idea.”
I would guess Silverstein saved this private audio conversation as leverage against Trump.
The Apprentice started in 2004, so having a secret audio recording like this NBC could conveniently leak to embarrass him if there’s some sort of contract dispute would be of huge value.
As Trump did them nothing but favors, there was clearly no need to embarrass him in the past.
Hollywood elites like Haim Saban have been gunning to take down Trump for over a year now, and now that Trump’s surging in the polls and within earshot of the presidency, things have changed.
Trump responded to the tape with the following statement: “This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course – not even close. I apologize if anyone was offended.”
Hillary Clinton meanwhile feigned outrage despite her husband engaging in much worse:
